Lesson plan

Aim: to provide practice in making up

dialogues and speaking on the topic

Spending money”.

Objective: by the end of the lesson the

students will be better able to

make up dialogues and speak

about spending their money



Equipment: video from the Internet,

presentation, 2 fragments

of opinion poll, cards, tape,

screen







  1. Организационный момент

(звучит музыка “Money…)

T: - Dear friends, I want to introduce you my colleagues, English teachers from schools of our district. They are very intelligent, friendly and kind. I hope you will like them.

  • Dear guests, these are my students. They are very intelligent , friendly and kind too. I think you will like them too.



  1. Основная часть урока

(slide with the aim and objective)

1.

The teacher declares the aim and objective of the lesson

2.

(slide with the words)

T: - Friends, look at the screen. You will work individually. You should explain the words you learnt last lesson

(individually work)

T: - Make sentences with these words.

Example:

A lot of consumers enjoy buying things during the sales

T: - Friends, you will work in pairs. Look at the screen. You should match the words.

(pair work)

(slide)

T: - Now, you should use the phrases to complete the sentences. You will get cards.

(cards, music) ( pair work)

T: - My friends, listen to the speaker and then answer the questions:

1. How can British students earn money?

2. What do they spend their money on?

(turn on the tape, slides)

T: - Friends, change pairs, please.

Now, you will watch video from the Internet. After that you should answer the questions.

(slide)

  • Look through the questions. Are they clear?

  1. Where are these students from?

  2. What do they spend their money on?

(video, then answer the questions)

(pair work)

T:- Some students of our group had the task – to interview the students of our school about earning and spending their money . Look at the screen.

(videofragment 1, then slide)

  • Nastya, comment on the first fragment

Nastya: - I have taken interview from 20 students of our school. They earn their money from: summer job, helping with the chores around the house, parents give, Oriflame and Amway adviser



T: - Look at the second fragment.

  • Kate, comment on the second fragment.

(videofragment 2 ,then slide)

Kate: - I have taken interview from the students of the 10th and 11th forms. They spend their money on: clothes and accessories, going out, magazines, books, CDs, computer games, chewing gums, make up, mobile phone cards, sweets and chips.

They spend more than earn. Girls spend more than boys.

T: - Friends, divide into groups and get the tasks

(cards with tasks, slide, music)

(in groups)

1 group: take an interview from our guests about how they earned and on what spent money when they were teens.

2 group: Do you think you would be happier if you suddenly became rich? How ,do you think ,your life would change? Make up the dialogue.

3 group: comment on proverbs:

A fool and his money are easily parted.

A great fortune in the hands of a fool is a great misfortune.

T:- Friends, let’s speak about you. How do you earn and what do you spend your money on?

(music, answer 3-4 students)

(individually work)

(slide with the song)

T:- Let’s look at the screen and sing along

(after that)

  • And now , you should answer my question: What can’t we do with money?

(- We can’t buy love, happiness, health, friends…)

III. Заключительная часть урока

T: - Friends, you worked hard during the lesson. Did you like it? Thank you for your job. You are clever students. Are you tired? How interesting was our lesson for you?

I mean you’ll learn to earn fairly and to dispose correctly of money. The most important thing is that not all can be bought.

  • Dear guests, thank you for your attention.
