№ 1. АУДИРОВАНИЕ
There are many famous British and American writers. They lived long ago but people know their names and read their books.
1. William Shakespeare wrote many books: tragedies, comedies, and poems. He was born in the 16th century. He was also an actor at the theatre GLOBE in London. His most famous plays are “Hamlet” and “Romeo and Juliet”.
2. Rudyard Kipling was born in the 19th century in India. He wrote many poems and stories for children. Children like his “Jungle book”. He got the Nobel Prize for literature.
3. Mark Twain was an American writer. Many children like to read “The adventure of Tom Sawyer”, the main character of which is a funny boy. He has got a lot of friends and is full of ides.
4. Lewis Carroll was born in 1832. He was a mathematician and worked at Oxford University, but he wrote books too.
5. Agatha Christie is a well-known detective writer who was born in 1890. Her life was full of adventures. Many people read her stories and watch her plays at the theatre.

The Great Fire of London
In the old city of London there were narrow (узкие) streets with wooden houses. It was a dirty (1___). 75, 000 Londoners died from Plague (чума) in 1665.
