Biography William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor. He was born on 26 April 1564 in Stratford-uponAvon. His father was a glovemaker and his mother was the daughter of a farmer. William attended a grammar school.

Family life Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway at the age of 18. She was eight years older than him. They had three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith.

Work • Moved to work in London at the age of 23 • Worked both as an actor and a writer • Most of his plays were performed in the GLOBE THEATRE

William Shakespeare wrote: 36 plays 154 sonnets 2 poems

The end of his life • In 1613 he stopped writing and came back to Stratford where he died in 1616. • It is interesting that William died on his birthday, 23 of April at the age of 52. • He was buried in Holy Trinity Church.

Many centuries have passed since his death, but Shakespeare is still considered to be the greatest of all playwrights and poets. His plays are still acted in the whole world. Shakespeare was a great poet. “He was not of an age, but for all time.”
